>>>==(O)==<<<

1- Introduction :
- It's conversion of K.E of the wind into mechanical energy that can be utilized to perform useful work to generate electricity .
- winds arise from temperature difference of the earth's surface resulting from an equal absorption of solar energy .
- air heating by contact with warmer surface tends to rise and cooler air from less heated surface flows to take this place , the resulting air flow constitute wind .
- wind energy is thus a form of solar energy .

2- advantages and disadvantages :-

** advantages of wind energy :-
- it's renewable source energy .
- wind energy is non polluted .
- wind energy avoid fuel provision and transport .
- at small scale up to few kilo watt , it's less in cost .

** disadvantages :-
- wind energy is Fluctuating متذبذبة أو متغيرة
- wind energy needs storage batteries .
- wind energy systems are noisy .
- wind energy systems are relatively high in weight .
- large areas are needed .
- the maintenance is high .

- Q. write down the advantages and dis advantages of wind energy ?

3- Basic principles of wind energy conversion :-

kinetic energy = 1/2 mv2
K.E = 1/2 ρ * volume * v2
power =  1/2 ρ * v * v2 * A
power =  1/2 ρ A v3
V  is the speed of wind in m/sec
ρ  is the density of air ( 1,5 kg/m3 )

4- emperical formula :-

P = 0.37 ( v/10 )3  kw/m2
